What to expect

  1. Clava Cairns

    30 min

The Clava Cairns are about 4,000 years old and were built to house the dead. The cemetery remained a sacred place in the landscape for millennia, and provides many clues to the beliefs of Bronze Age society.
What remains today would have once been part of a larger complex. Two parts of the complex, Balnuaran of Clava and Milton of Clava, are open to the public. The sites contain a range of prehistoric burial monuments and the remains of a medieval chapel.

  2. Culloden Battlefield

    1 hour

The richly researched, stimulating and sensitive Culloden Visitor Centre, which stands beside the battlefield, features artefacts from both sides of the battle and interactive displays that reveal the background to the conflict. It is both a monument and a guide to a pivotal day in history.

  3. Cawdor Castle

    1 hour

Cawdor Castle is a castle in the parish of Cawdor in Nairnshire, Scotland. It is built around a 15th-century tower house, with substantial additions in later centuries. Originally a property of the Calder family, it passed to the Campbells in the 16th century. It remains in Campbell ownership, and is now home to the Dowager Countess Cawdor, stepmother of Colin Campbell, 7th Earl Cawdor.
The castle is best known for its literary connection to William Shakespeare's tragedy Macbeth, in which the title character is made "Thane of Cawdor". However, the story is highly fictionalised, and the castle itself, which is never directly referred to in Macbeth, was built many years after the life of the 11th-century King Macbeth.

  4. Great Glen Distillery

    30 min

Great Glen is both Scotland's newest and, proudly, its smallest craft distillery. Harnessing the elements of a wild place, our smooth, earthy gin is our love letter to nature. Whether sipped by the water's edge on a summers evening or enjoyed on wintery nights by the fire, our gin is the perfect companion.
PLEASE NOTE - The Distillery is closed during the Winter months

  5. Urquhart Castle

    1 hour

With stunning views of the castle and Loch Ness. The first real evidence of a castle dates back to 1230.it fell in and out of the English hands over the next 100 years. It was the clan seat of the Grant Clan in 1689 Urquhart Castle saw its last action when the garrison of the time blew the castle up rather than let it fall into the enemy as they left.

  6. Loch Ness

    30 min

Loch Ness is one of those rare destinations that engages everyone, from children enchanted with Nessie, to adults interested in photography, hiking and more. It combines Jacobite history, stunning scenery and the possibility of a monster sighting, ensuring it's a perfect destination all year round, for all ages.

  7. The Singleton Distillery

    1 hour

Glen Ord distillery is a whisky distillery in the Scottish Highlands and is the only remaining single malt scotch whisky distillery on the Black Isle. Glen Ord distillery produce a 12 year old, 15 year old and an 18 year old single malt The Singleton of Glen Ord that's available for export only
